With an excellent health and wellness culture, Bali has a great mixture of all different kinds of exercise and sports classes.
Designed to work your core, promote mobility, and aid stability, pilates is one of the best forms of exercise to stay fit while focussing on alignment and breath.
Bali’s pilates studios are well-equipped, beautifully designed, and pretty affordable! There are tons of studios on the island, making it easy to squeeze an hour’s class into your daily routine. Top that off with a smoothie at your favorite health cafe, and you’re on your way to a healthy lifestyle!
Here are some of the best places to do pilates in Bali.
Best Spots to Do Pilates in Bali
For newbies or pilates regulars, these studios in Bali are a great place to start or continue your practice on the island.
Bali Pilates Plus
One of the core pilates studios on the island, Bali Pilates Plus, uses traditional principles to build core strength.
Through mindful movements and emphasis on holistic wellbeing, they aim to condition bodies and improve posture along the way.
You can choose from one-on-one classes, group sessions, and even beginner classes. There are only 5 people per session, meaning you will still get some personal attention to improve your posture and technique.
Body Pilates Bali
Body Pilates is a boutique studio with a quiet, peaceful atmosphere that will make you feel like you’re at a spa rather than a gym.
They prides themselves on teaching clients how to be in control rather than at the mercy of their bodies.
With traditional pilates reformers, the highly skilled trainers curate interactive and energizing classes that will leave you feeling both strong and relaxed. They also offer mat classes with props like overballs and Swiss balls.
Sunset Pilates Bali
At the spacious, airy, and bright Sunset Pilates studios in Berawa, Canggu, and Sanur, you can join rehabilitation, pregnancy, and traditional pilates classes.
Open from 7am to 7pm, you really have no reason not to find time in your schedule.
If you have the chance, I highly recommend signing up for a retreat with Sunset. You can discover your physical and mental potential during an all-inclusive week of pilates.
With skilled instructors trained to help you get the best out of your session, Saia Pilates is a chic and modern space.
The studio is bright, modern, and, most importantly, air-conditioned, with floor-to-ceiling mirrors to make sure your posture is perfectly aligned.
The Canggu location is my favorite. Overlooking gorgeous rice fields, Saia Pilates has private and semi-private reformer classes as well as group sessions.
That said, with only 5 to 6 clients in each session, you can rest assured the instructor will make sure you move and flow in proper alignment.
Revive + Pilates
With Revive + Pilates in Canggu, there is no excuse to skip a session.
It is one of the best places to do pilates in Bali. R+P has all-level reformer classes with modifiable exercises depending on how much you want your body to work.
They offer a Gluteformer class focused on building strength in your lower body, and for a little extra intensity, their cardio-focused Sweatformer class will get your heart rate pumping!
The studio is simply designed, with an industrial-inspired interior with neon lights.
The Pilates Project
Along with their reformer and mat pilates classes, The Pilates Project also hosts yoga and boxing sessions. Led by professional instructors, their classes range in intensity from beginner to advanced.
Try the Pulse class for a slow burner set to banging tunes, up the tempo with a Hustle class, which is designed to get your heart rate up and your body sweating with a combo of boxing, or slow things down with a full-body Pace workout, a mat-based class that focuses on posture, strength, and stretching.
Umalas Pilates Studio Bali
Easily one of the most aesthetically pleasing places to practice pilates, Umalas Pilates Studio is set amongst tropical foliage. The expert studio will help you strengthen your core while finding inner peace.
With private sessions and small group classes, they are intimate classes that make it easier to learn the proper fundamentals of each movement.
Final Thoughts
There is nothing better than getting your body moving. No matter where you are in the world, a low-impact, high-intensity pilates workout will stretch your muscles, relieve aches and pains, and get you fired up for the day ahead.
Bali is packed with pilates studios, where you can choose from group classes to private sessions.
When you’ve got nothing to do and a free hour or 2, pilates in Bali is a great activity!
