For the Budding Surfer
Beautifully located on a hillside overlooking jungle and ocean views, Taman Sari Uluwatu is a chill and tranquil spot filled with cosy bungalow-style rooms.
A surf-camp style hostel, you can take the opportunity to work closely with the friendly on-site instructors to improve your surfing skills, or even start from scratch.
There are plenty of spaces to relax, and spots for digital nomads to get emails done between lessons.
I love the bright pool area where you can lounge on the beanbags, and refresh in the cool waters, looking out over the landscape.
I’m not a surfer, but I’m certainly willing to learn if I get to wake up here!
Perfect Central Location
Slap, bang in the middle of Uluwatu, Sultans of Swell is a haven for solo travellers wanting to be in the midst of everything.
Just walking distance from a wide range of restaurants and cafes, a short drive to all the beaches of the South and in a quiet, peaceful location, what more could you ask for?
The hostel in Uluwatu has both private rooms and dormitory bedrooms to meet each traveler’s budget and preference. Shack up with other backpackers or have your own space.
The common areas have lush gardens and an on-site shop where you can pick souvenirs, and chill with like minded people.

The simplicity of this Uluwatu hostel is juxtaposed by its stunning scenery.
Encompassed by vast tropical gardens and luscious greenery, this is a perfect place to escape the crowds of the island and enjoy a serene retreat.

Plus, it is just a short drive from one of my favourite beaches on the island – Bingin Beach. I think I’ve found my paradise.

Trendy, Boho-chic Hostel
I’ve saved one of the best hostels in Uluwatu until last.

A beautiful place to spend a relaxing island escape, the boho-chic interiors and style of the hostel are perfect for relaxing in the sun.
Spend days around the pool with the fellow guests, basking in the rays and cooling off in the water.
Offering delicious homemade Indonesian and Western cuisine, you don’t need to venture far for a good meal.
A calm and homey place to base your Uluwatu adventures, I highly recommend this hostel if you have a bit of cash to spare.
And, there you have it, my collection of the top hostels in Uluwatu! I must admit, I’m pretty impressed with myself for the variety in this selection, there really is something for everyone!
My personal favourites and go-tos are Lala Homestay Bingin and Bali Beats Guesthouse for their chill peaceful vibes.
Which one has you packing your backpack and ready to go?
Get yourself ready for hot sweaty walks down the cliffside to reach the most unbelievable and scenic tropical beaches – brutal, but totally worth it!
After a sip of a fresh cold coconut and a dip in the ocean, it’s all forgotten. (Until you need to walk back up).
